Stanford forward Adam Jahn, who scored the match-winning goal in Stanford's 1-0 away win over No. 25 UC Santa Barbara last Friday, was named the Pac-12 Men's Soccer Player of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday.

It is the second conference weekly honor for the Cardinal this season. Zach Batteer took home the Player of the Week award on Oct. 9.

Jahn and the Cardinal silenced over 4,000 fervent UC Santa Barbara fans Friday night when his header in the 96th minute proved the golden goal against the 25th-ranked Gauchos. For Jahn it was his team-leading ninth goal and his third match-winner of the 2012 campaign.

The senior forward has registered career highs of nine goals and 20 points so far in 2012. The winner in Santa Barbara was also the 20th goal of Jahn's Stanford career.

Stanford (7-7-1, 3-3-1 Pac-12), which has defeated two ranked teams on the road this season, resumes Pac-12 play this week, beginning with Thursday's match at No. 7 UCLA (11-2-2, 6-1-0). That match is set for a 7 p.m. kickoff and will be televised on the Pac-12 Networks. The Cardinal closes the weekend Saturday night at 7 p.m. at San Diego State (6-7-3, 0-5-2).

Women's swimming
Dana Kirk has been added to the Stanford staff as a volunteer assistant coach, as announced recently by head coach Greg Meehan.

A 17-time All-American and eight-time Pac-10 Conference title winner during her time on The Farm, Kirk was a member of the United States Olympic Team in 2004 after winning the 200-meter fly at the U.S. Olympic Trials. Kirk went on to finish ninth at the Athens Games. Kirk also swam at the 2008 and 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials.

The standout performer was a member of seven international teams to represent the United States in the pool.

Kirk, who currently serves as the aquatics director at Fremont Hill Country Club and founded Dana Kirk Swimming, is also the Palo Alto Stanford Aquatics (PASA) site director.

Kirk received undergraduate degrees in both communications and political science at Stanford in 2006.

Men's golf
The No. 18 Stanford men's golf team finished fourth at the Stanford Classic at Cypress Point, as the field finished the third round in two days at the renowned course. The Cardinal was defeated by Texas, 15 ½ to 8 ½ after splitting matches with Duke and Washington the day before.

Tuesday's format pitted the six-man teams in six individual match play pairings, with single points awarded for winning the front and back nines and two points given to the winner of 18 holes. Cameron Wilson led the Cardinal, winning all four available points in his match against Julio Vegas. David Boote also played well, winning three points against the Longhorns Kramer Kickok.

Shane Lebow claimed one point in his matchup with Toni Hakula, and Patrick Rodgers half a point against Jordan Spieth. Steve Kearney and Dominick Francks were unable to win any points against Cody Gribble and Johnathan Schnitzer, respectively.

UCLA emerged victorious after defeating Duke in the championship match.

Stanford will wrap up its fall schedule at the Gifford Intercollegiate at CordeValle, November 5-7.
