The Halloween spirit seized California Avenue in Palo Alto Sunday, Oct. 28, as the avenue played host to a carnival, costume parade and trick-or-treating.

The 18th Annual California Avenue District Trick or Treat and Halloween Carnival from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. also featured a silent auction, music and dance performances, and activities such as "Build-A-Mummy."
