White canes were a common sight in downtown Palo Alto Wednesday morning as Vista Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired teamed with the Western Blind Rehabilitation Center for the annual White Cane Awareness Walk.

The half-mile walk started at Palo Alto City Hall at 10:30 a.m., continued around downtown Palo Alto and finished back at City Hall at 11 a.m. with a special proclamation.

Nice to see this article.

I consider myself someone who has traveled in many countries where the local currency is always on different sized banknotes to enable blind people differenciate the denominations. How come the US currency is all the same sized and how come the blind have not brought some protests about this?

As someone who is legally blind without glasses, I can imagine how horrible it would be to see only darkness.

This country has never been very good at helping its less fortunate citizens. I never thought I would feel this way, but as my vision worsens, I hope I am. Ot

Irving in the US when it finally becomes completely uncorrectable.
