Music: Bluegrass
The Kathy Kallick Band will celebrate the release of its new CD at the Redwood Bluegrass Associates performance. The public is invited to bring an instrument to the 5 p.m. bluegrass jam. The event is Saturday, Oct. 27, 7:30-10:30 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Mountain View, 1667 Miramonte Ave., Mountain View. $20 advance/$22 door. Go to rba.org.

On stage: 'The Tempest'
The Menlo-Atherton High School Performing Arts Department presents William Shakespeare's "The Tempest." The play runs through Nov. 3 and features shows this Saturday, Oct. 27, at 2 and 7:30 p.m. Adults, $12; students/seniors $8. Go to livesv.com

Run: Marsh Madness 5k, 10k walk/run
Registration is now open for Marsh Madness 5k/10k and marathon run/walk at www.marshmadnessrun.net. Marsh Madness is a joint partnership of the Palo Alto Family YMCA and Lucile Packard Children's Hospital. It is a professionally timed event on a USA Track and Field certified course. Saturday, Oct. 27, 8 a.m.-2 p.m. $10-$45. at the Palo Alto Baylands, 1700 Geng Road, Palo Alto. Go to marshmadnessrun.net
