Film: United Nations Association Film Festival
Tomorrow, Oct. 18, the 15th annual United Nations Association Film Festival begins at 5:30 p.m. at the Aquarius Theatre, 430 Emerson St., Palo Alto. Live music and opening remarks will be followed by screenings of documentary films including "The Well: Water Voices from Ethiopia" at 7:15 p.m. and the Russian film "The Red Button" at 8:30. The festival runs through Oct. 18, with other screenings at Stanford University and in East Palo Alto, San Jose and San Francisco. For details, go to unaff.org.
Lecture: 'Inventing the Modern World: Design & Technology in the 1930s'
Entrepreneur and educator Jeff Risberg will give a talk at 7 p.m. tomorrow, Oct. 18, on design and technology in the 1930s and how innovations in buildings, cars and appliances still resonate. The event is at the Museum of American Heritage at 351 Homer Ave. in Palo Alto. Risberg is an instructor at the museum. Admission to his talk is $10 general and free for museum members.
