Books: Reopening party at Kepler's
After being closed over the summer to renovate the store's layout and transition to new management, Kepler's Books at 1010 El Camino Real in Menlo Park is reopening with a free party from 7 to 10 p.m. tonight, Oct. 16. Scheduled events include an author talk by Michael Doyle, who recently published "Radical Chapters: Pacifist Bookseller Roy Kepler and the Paperback Revolution." Refreshments will be provided. Film: 'Revenge'
As part of the Central Asia Film Series put on by Stanford's CREEES Center for Russian, East European & Eurasian Studies, a free screening of the 2006 Kazakh film "Revenge" is scheduled for 7 p.m. tonight, Oct. 16. The movie tells a Montague-and-Capulet story about two Turkic tribes who lived in what is now western Kazakhstan in the 18th century. The event will take place on campus in Building 370, Room 370, with an introduction and commentary by Alma Kunanbaeva of the university's department of anthropology.
