Community: Paly music boosters October flea market
A variety of items will be on sale including books, antiques, crafts from around the world, plants and more. Proceeds support Palo Alto High School Instrumental Music Program. Music: California Bach Society -- Mass in B Minor
The 35-voice California Bach Society presents Bach's Mass in B Minor. Paul Flight is the director with soloists Jennifer Paulino, soprano; Danielle Reutter-Harrah, mezzo-soprano; Brian Staufenbiel, tenor; and Christopheren Nomura, baritone. The event is Saturday, Oct. 13, at 8 p.m. at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 600 Colorado Ave., Palo Alto. General $30, seniors $22, under 30 $10. Go to calbach.org.

Humanist Community Forum: 'Beyond Nature's Housekeepers'
In this illustrated presentation based on her new book of the above name, Prof. Nancy C. Unger reveals how women have played a unique role, for better and sometimes for worse, in the shaping of the American environment. She will speak Sunday, Oct. 14, from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. at The Student Center at Palo Alto High School (in the middle of campus), 50 Embarcadero Road, Palo Alto. Go to humanists.org.
