Kepler's: 'Runaway Girl'
Attorney Carissa Phelps discusses and signs her memoir "Runaway Girl: Escaping Life on the Streets, One Helping Hand at a Time." By 12, she had run away from home, dropped out of school, and fled blindly into the arms of a pimp. Her life was transformed through the unexpected kindness of a teacher and a counselor. Phelps works as part of a global collective to help survivors of sex trafficking. She speaks tomorrow, Sept. 28, at 7 p.m. at Kepler's, 1010 El Camino Real, Menlo Park.
