Music: Hiroshima band
Hiroshima band with taiko master Kenny Endo will perform a two-hour concert. VIP sushi and sake tasting is an optional event preceding the concert. Proceeds will benefit the Tsunami Japan Relief Fund and the Palo Alto Buddhist Temple's 100th Anniversary Fund. The event is tomorrow, Sept. 29, from 8:30-10:30 p.m. at the Jewish Community Center, 3921 Fabian Way, Palo Alto. Go to pabt.org.
Music: Redwood City Salsa Festival
Redwood City's fifth annual Salsa Festival will have three stages featuring Latin rock, salsa, and Latin jazz music. Amateur and professional Chefs will compete for fun and prizes. The event is Saturday, Sept. 29, 12-8 p.m. at Courthouse Square, 2200 Broadway St., Redwood City. Go to redwoodcity.org.
Gala: Palo Alto Black and White Ball
The Palo Alto Recreation Foundation presents the vintage Vegas-themed Black and White Ball, a gala benefiting the Palo Alto community and local schools. The event will be Saturday, Sept. 29, from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m. at the Lucie Stern Community Center, 1305 Middlefield Road, Palo Alto. The gala will include food and drink, live music on four stages, and poker, roulette and blackjack games.
