No luck for Luck as Colts fall in final seconds
|
Andrew Luck completed 22-of-46 passes for 313 yards and two touchdowns, but it still wasn't enough for the former Stanford All-American as his Indianapolis Colts dropped a 22-17 decision to the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday in NFL action.
The Colts (1-2) took a 17-16 lead after Luck drove the team 48 yards in five plays to set up a 37-yard field goal by Adam Vinatieri with 56 seconds left in the game.
Luck's last-minute heroics, however, disappeared after the Jaguars scored on an 80-yard pass play with 45 seconds to play.
Luck had one final opportunity to pull out the victory, driving the Colts to the Jaguars' 26-yard line with 18 seconds left. His first pass into the end zone was incomplete as he was hit before he could step into the throw, and his second pass into the end zone -- to Reggie Wayne -- was broken up.
In other NFL action Sunday featuring former Stanford players:
Former Stanford standout Toby Gerhart of the Vikings carried eight times for 18 yards and caught two passes for 20 yards in Minnesota's 24-13 victory over the San Francisco 49ers.
Former Cardinal tight end Konrad Reuland caught two passes for 12 yards in the Jets' 23-20 win over the Dolphins. — Palo Alto Online Sports Are you receiving Express, our free daily e-mail edition? See a sample and sign-up for Express.
