Talk: Aruna Roy and Nikhil Dey
Social and political activists Aruna Roy and Nikhil Dey from India will give a free talk called "Beyond Jan Lokpal: Laws to Combat Corruption and the Role of Social Movements in India's Democracy" at 6:30 p.m. today, Sept. 17. The event is in Building 540 (Blume Earthquake Center) Room 108, at Stanford University. They will speak about the anticorruption movement and the roles of social movements in democracy. Art: 'Explorations in Colored Pencil'
Northern California artists working in colored pencil are exhibiting art and prints through Sept. 28 at Main Street Cafe and Books at 134 Main St. in Los Altos. The show, put on by the Colored Pencil Society of America, is free, and the public can vote for their favorite works of art for "people's choice" awards.
