Tracy Duchac has been named assistant coach for the Stanford women's swimming team, it was announced Thursday by head coach Greg Meehan. Duchac, who earned honorable mention All-America honors as a swimmer at Purdue, spent last season as an assistant coach at Arizona.

"I am thrilled to announce Tracy Duchac as the new Stanford women's swimming assistant coach," Meehan said. "Simply put, Tracy is an incredible person and an amazing coach. Her success over the past six years speaks volumes about her ability to coach at the highest level. I'm excited that Stanford is going to benefit from her experience.

"Tracy has vast knowledge of what it takes to be an elite student-athlete while understanding the importance of being a positive role model and mentor to the women in our program. I couldn't be more excited for the Stanford family to have Tracy and her husband, Adam, join us on The Farm."

Duchac helped Arizona to a fifth-place finish at the 2012 NCAA Championships, the program's ninth consecutive NCAA finish in the top five.

Prior to her one-year stint at Arizona, Duchac served as the women's assistant coach at Texas A&M for five seasons.

"I am honored to become a part of Stanford's rich tradition of elite academics and swimming," Duchac said. "The opportunity to work with Greg is something I am really looking forward to. I have a lot of respect for him and his impeccable swimming background. I am very excited for what is ahead for Stanford women's swimming and cannot wait to get started."

During her tenure at Texas A&M, the women's team posted a program-best five top-10 finishes at the NCAA Championships, including a fourth-place showing in 2008.

In 2009, Duchac mentored Texas A&M's first two NCAA individual national champions in Julia Wilkinson and Alia Atkinson.

A 2006 graduate of Purdue, Duchac earned a bachelor's degree in health promotion. Duchac is a former College Swim Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) All-Academic honoree and a three-time Academic All-Big Ten selection.

Duchac became the first Boilermaker in program history to break the 23-second barrier in the 50-yard freestyle. She made a trio of appearances at the NCAA Championships (2003, 2004, 2005) and earned honorable mention All-American honors in the 200- and 400-yard freestyle relays. Duchac had a hand in recording school records in each of those events.
