Kepler's: 'Japanese Farm Food'
Nancy Singleton Hachisu discusses and signs her new book, "Japanese Farm Food." American born and raised, Nancy Singleton Hachisu lives with her family on a rural Japanese farm, where they prepare 160 seasonal dishes. She has taught cooking classes for 20 years and runs a children's English immersion program that prepares home-cooked meals with local ingredients. She will speak Saturday, Sept. 15, at 1 p.m. at Kepler's, 1010 El Camino Real, Menlo Park. Go to keplers.com.

Community: Midtown Residents Association ice cream social
Candidates for the Palo Alto City Council and Palo Alto school board will scoop ice cream for attendees to this event on Sunday, Sept. 16, from 1 to 3 p.m at Hoover Park, Palo Alto. Other scoopers include key city staff and commissioners. Go to midtownresidents.org.

Nature: Wild Cat Adventure
"Wild Cat Adventure" features five live wild cats from around the world. Each cat is shown on stage as information about the species is shared with the audience. Cats may include a cougar, cheetah, serval, bobcat, Siberian lynx, ocelot or Geoffroy's cat. The event will be Sunday, Sept. 16, from 2 to 3 p.m. at Foothill College - Appreciation Hall, 12345 El Monte Road, Los Altos Hills. Tickets are $10 for adults and 5$ for children under 12.
