Vukic leads Oaks soccer past Westmont
|
Sacred Heart Prep grad Alex Vukic scored a goal and assisted on another as the Menlo College men's soccer team downed visiting Westmont, 3-1, on Friday.
Vukic's first goal, early in the second half, came on a rebound and gave the Oaks (2-0-1) a 2-0 lead. Two minutes later he carried the ball inside the box and feed Eric Angell for another goal.
"It feels good to finally be out here and show everyone how hard we've been working," Vukic said of Menlo's home opener. "It was nice to come out here and prove something. We had to come out here and play for each other and not for ourselves, and that's why we ended up on top."
Andrew Cota gave Menlo the early lead with an assist from Hugo Conchas.
"It was good to be back at home," Menlo coach Mike Keller said. "It's always exciting to play in front of your fans, and today there was a great atmosphere."
