Mark Hernandez is in his first season as a coach for the Stanford Water Polo Club girls' program. Hernandez, however, is the longtime coach at Gunn High and is far from being a rookie when it comes to aquatic sports.

Despite competing in the lower Challenge Division of the 43rd annual SwimOutlet.com Junior Olympics, Hernandez has his Stanford U16 White team undefeated after four matches.

There's still a long way to go in the four-day tournament, billed as the world's largest for water polo. Hernandez and his team will be back in the pool on Saturday at San Jose State to see if they can improve upon their 4-0 mark after the first two days.

Stanford 16U White held off Lamorinda, 5-2, and escaped with a 6.3 o 6.0 shootout win over Legacy on Friday.

Final-round action will be highlighted by medal matches in the championship division on Sunday at Stanford's Avery Aquatic Center.
