Music: Jennifer Scott Sextet
From 6 to 8 p.m. tonight, July 23, jazz singer and pianist Jennifer Scott will give a free show with her sextet outdoors in the 2600 block of Broadway in Redwood City. The concert is part of the city's extensive series of summer performances, films and dance nights. A Vancouver native, Scott also performs blues and world music and is pianist and vocalist with the Brazilian-jazz fusion group Novo Tempo in San Francisco. Talk: 'Protecting "wild" rivers'
Andrew C. Fahlund, executive director of the program on "Water in the West" at the Woods institute for the Environment, will give a free talk at 4:15 p.m. today on conservation tools to protect "wild" rivers. The event is at Stanford University, in Room 111 of the Jerry Yang & Akiko Yamazaki Environment & Energy Building.
