Lecture: Elizabeth Kolbert
As part of the Wallace Stegner Lecture Series, journalist Elizabeth Kolbert will speak tonight, May 14, at 8 p.m. about her research and interviews on global warming. She'll focus on the lessons she learned while trekking across the Arctic and meeting with scientists and policymakers, a journey that led to her 2006 book "Field Notes from a Catastrophe: Man, Nature and Climate Change." Art: 'Bathtubs, Bathtubs Everywhere'
Art expresses political and environmental views in "Bathtubs, Bathtubs Everywhere," a show of paintings by Harry Cohen and Michael Killen now at Cafe Borrone, 1010 El Camino Real, Menlo Park. In the show, which runs through May 27, the artists express their concerns on canvas about a plan to develop salt ponds in Redwood City. The two state that they want the ponds restored to wetlands.
