$20K taken in Mountain View home burglary
Safe with jewelry and cash stolen from Villa Street house March 12

Bookmark and Share
A safe containing an assortment of jewelry and more than $20,000 in cash was taken from a house in the 1600 block of Villa Street in Mountain View Monday, March 12, police said.

Sometime between 7:30 a.m. and 3 p.m., someone forced open a rear door leading into a bedroom, according to Liz Wylie, a spokeswoman for the Mountain View police. The home was in disarray and appeared to have been rummaged through, Wylie said in an email to the Mountain View Voice.

The home had an alarm system, but it was not armed, Wylie said.

Investigators said they do not believe the crime is related to a March 9 burglary, when a safe containing more than $40,000 was taken from a Mountain View apartment.

Anyone have an NRA sticker I can put on my rear bedroom door?

Why do people keep so much ca$h at home?

They probably keep the cash in case the banks close unexpectedly or for emergencies ... Sounds like these are inside jobs though!

I agree with Kt this sounds like these are inside jobs...Someone knows the victim(s). The victim(s) talked about what was in those safes in order for their homes to be burlgarized without a doubt. Not everyone is your friend including relatives.

You have to be incredibly naive to keep $20K in a safe at home and not arm your alarm system. Sounds Darwinian...

Some Mountain Viewians don't pay taxes, since they are here illegally. The Day Worker Center works on a cash only basis. Palo Altans that frequent the joint should know that.

Well there are those people that don't pay taxes all over the world but I do know what you mean...
