My wife, Helen, and I were on Maui. Our daughter called us very early for Hawaiian time to tell us to turn on the TV, and we watched all the horror on for hours. We were scheduled to come home three days later, but because all the airlines grounded their planes, we were "forced" to stay for more than a week.

About a week later we were in a restaurant, and the man at the table next to us was being very vocal and giving the waitress a very hard time. When she asked him what was wrong, he said he had been stuck on Maui for more than a week and wanted to go home. When the waitress left, I said to him: "If you had to be stuck somewhere, can you think of a better place than Maui? Certainly not Chicago."
