Stanford professor wins 'Genius Award'

| A Stanford University biochemistry professor is one of 25 people who have won five-year, $500,000 grants from the John D. and Catherine MacArthur Foundation.
Pehr Harbury, 40, is exploring various characteristics of proteins in an attempt to develop more effective drugs for the treatment of disease.
"It was completely unexpected," Harbury told the Stanford News Service. Harbury, 40, is a native of Menlo Park and lives in the Santa Cruz mountains.
The financial award comes "without stipulations or reporting requirements," according to the foundation. — Bay City News Service
