Paly, Gunn to host panel on teen mental health
'Listen, Learn and Connect' will feature physicians, wellness experts

Share
A panel of physicians and mental health professionals will discuss teen mental health and wellness at Palo Alto High School tonight (Thursday).

The title of the 7 p.m. event is "Listen, Learn and Connect: Understanding Teen Wellness and Mental Health."

The panel will feature Meg Durbin, a Palo Alto Medical Foundation physician and Gunn parent; Gloria Moskowitz-Sweet, coordinator of community education at the Parents Place of Palo Alto; Amy Saltzman, a physician interested in mindfulness and holistic medicine; and Tom Tarshis, a child psychiatrist, founder of Bay Area Children's Association and adjunct faculty member at Stanford University.

The event, in Paly's Haymarket Theater, is co-sponsored by the Paly and Gunn high school Parent-Teacher-Student Associations (PTSAs).

What they need to know is that in this town, kids are not allowed to be kids any more. What happens to kids who are not allowed to be kids?

I applaud the PTSAs at Paly and Gunn for putting this important program together. Dr Durbin has some great ideas about how the primary care team can keep our kids healthy, both mentally and physically. It should be a very worthwhile evening.

This sounds like an EXCELLENT EVENT. It should NOT be missed.

This sounds like a good idea and I wonder why Adolescent Counseling Services is not included. They have counseling on both those campuses and have contact with many of the students. I could imagine their feedback as helpful as well.

Don't forget to include Byron Katie. www.thework.com

She is interested and willing to be involved.
