East Palo Alto police hunt for shooting suspect
One man in critical condition after sustaining gunshot wound to the head
|
Police in East Palo Alto are still looking for the man who apparently shot two people in front of a home Thursday evening, a detective said today (Tuesday).
Officers responded to a house in the 2100 block of Lincoln Street at about 5:50 p.m. and found a 35-year-old man who had been shot in the head, according to police. He was sitting in the front seat of a parked car. Another man, 28, was also shot in the upper part of his body, according to police.
The 35-year-old victim was initially listed in grave condition, and his situation remains critical, according to Detective Angel Sanchez. Police have not been able to talk to the man to obtain his account of what happened, he said.
The suspect wore dark clothing and a mask, Sanchez said, and approached the two friends as they sat in a vehicle parked in a driveway. The motive is still unknown and it's too early to tell whether the shooting was gang related.
Shortly after the shooting, the Police Department's Shot Spotter System reported additional shots fired nearby at Lincoln and Green streets. Officers found multiple shell casings in the area.
Investigations indicate the shootings were related, Sanchez said, but it's not yet clear how.
Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call police Detective Angel Sanchez at 650-464-6837 or the Police Department's anonymous tip line at 650-851-8477.— Bay City News Service
