Tomorrow's events (Nov. 19)
|
• Theater: 'My Sister Eileen'
Two sisters from Ohio move to the '40s big city in "My Sister Eileen," a play being performed at Foothill College's Lohman Theatre tomorrow (Nov. 19) through Saturday at 8 p.m. and Nov. 22 at 2 p.m. Derived from the stories of Ruth McKenney, the play later became the framework for the Leonard Bernstein musical "Wonderful Town" (think "Why, oh why, oh why, oh -- why did I ever leave Ohio?"). The Foothill production stars Claire Slattery of Palo Alto as Ruth and April Spain of Mountain View as Eileen. Tickets are $16 general, $12 for students and seniors, and $8 for Foothill students. The college is at 12345 El Monte Road in Los Altos Hills. Call 650-949-7360 or go to www.foothill.edu.
• Author: Susan Van Allen
Tomorrow (Nov. 19) at 7 p.m., Susan Van Allen gives a free talk on her book "100 Places in Italy Every Woman Should Go." The event is at Books Inc., 855 El Camino Real #74, Palo Alto. Based in Los Angeles, Van Allen has written about Italian travel for media outlets including National Public Radio, Student Traveler and CNN.com. For more about tomorrow's talk, call 650-321-0600 or go to www.booksinc.net.
