Smit turns in solid effort in swimming victory
Senior wins four events, part of two winning relays in tri-meet sweep at Florida

Senior Julia Smit won four events and was part of two winning relays as the Stanford women's swimming team won both ends of a two-day tri-meet with Michigan and host Florida, which ended Sunday.
Stanford beat the Wolverines, 307-122, and the Gators, 231-198, in a meet that featured teams ranked in the top 25 last year.
Sophomore Betsy Webb won three events and juniors Kate Dwelley and Liz Smith each won two events.
The Cardinal (3-0) will participate in the Toshiba Classic in Long Beach State, a three-day event which begins Thursday, Nov. 19.
Smit, an Olympian who has the top college times in the individual medleys, swept won the 400 event on Saturday with a time of 4:09.11 after winning the 200 IM Friday.
Smit also won the 100 free with a time of 49.45, and the 200 back in 1:55.71 on Friday. Sam Woodward finished second, in 50.97, in the 100 free.
Webb won the 50 free on both days, swimming 23.01 on Friday and 23.23 on Saturday. She also the 100 free in 49.89 and finished second in the 100 back in 55.22, two-tenths behind Florida's All-American Gemma Spofforth.
Dwelley won the 100 fly with a time of 54.19 on Saturday after winning the 200 free Friday in 1:47.52.
Dwelley led off the winning 200 free relay, as she and Liz Smith sandwiched a winning time of 1:33.28. Smith also won the 100 breast with a time of 1:03.34, after winning the 200 on Friday night.
Kelsey Ditto, after winning Friday's 500, was second on Saturday in 4:49.16.
Stanford swam without Olympian Elaine Breeden, who is nursing an illness.
