• Community: '10 by 10 Challenge'
The Palo Alto office of Free The Children, a nonprofit group that builds schools and provides other services for youth, is holding an event tomorrow (Nov. 6) from 5 to 7:30 p.m. intended to motivate people to "commit to 10 social actions by the end of 2010." Held at the Oshman Family JCC at 3921 Fabian Way in Palo Alto, the event will feature the Afrofunk band Sila, youth activist Erin Schrode, the hip-hop dance group dv8 and others. • Theater: Satyajit Ray stories
Naatak, a group of Indian-theater enthusiasts, presents "Patol Babu Filmstar" and other plays in English from the late filmmaker Satyajit Ray, adapted and directed by Kamala Subramaniam. Local performances are tomorrow (Nov. 6) and Saturday at 8 p.m. in Cubberley Theatre, 4000 Middlefield Road, Palo Alto. Tickets are $20 general and $35 for VIP seating (with snacks).
