Stanford, Washington volleyball share first
Okogbaa, Klineman each record 11 kills in Cardinal victory over Arizona on Sunday

Share
There is no sure thing in Pac-10 women's volleyball and Stanford can attest to that after losing twice in its first seven conference matches.

The sixth-ranked Cardinal, though, completed the first half of Pac-10 play with a 25-22, 25-21, 25-23 win over visiting Arizona on Sunday, moving into a first-place tie with Washington, which fell to rival Washington State in four sets Friday night.

The standings, therefore, are as jumbled as ever. No. 16 Arizona started the weekend in a third-place tie and ends it in a sixth-place tie. California, which was in seventh place going into the weekend, moved into a fourth-place tie.

Stanford (7-2, 14-5) lost on the road at California and Oregon but recovered to beat everybody else, including Washington. Even at this juncture in the season, every Pac-10 team still owns an overall winning record.

The second half of the season, though, includes a trip to Washington and Arizona. Meanwhile the Cardinal can concentrate on visits from USC on Friday and UCLA on Saturday, both at 7 p.m. The Bruins hold down third place by themselves.

Janet Okogbaa and Alix Klineman each had 11 kills in the victory over Arizona State. Okogbaa added four blocks and a hitting percentage of .429.

Freshman setter Karissa Cook controlled the offense with 27 assists and junior Cassidy Lichtman pitched in with nine kills, nine assists and seven digs. Stanford outhit Arizona .269 to .234.

Ailes had 12 digs and has 1,379 for her career, 127 shy of tying Kristin Klein for second all-time.
