Missing visitor to Palo Alto found -- in an SF jail
Hawaii resident Michael Irwin, 40, was arrested Tuesday for allegedly selling drugs

Share
A business consultant from Hawaii who was reported missing for two days from Palo Alto has been found -- he spent two days in a San Francisco jail on charges of selling drugs in a parking lot, KTVU television reported Thursday evening.

Michael Karl Irwin, 40, failed to show up for dinner with a friend Tuesday night and missed two days of work before he was reported missing.

San Francisco Assistant District Attorney Brian Buckelew told KTVU, Channel 2, television that Irwin was arrested about 5:40 p.m. Tuesday when a San Francisco police officer witnessed a transaction between him and another man in the parking lot of the Safeway store at 2020 Market St.

He was released from jail in San Francisco around 4 p.m. Thursday after posting $50,000 bail, Buckelew said.

Irwin was charged with one count of possession for sale of methamphetamine and one count of possession of ecstasy. He was scheduled to be arraigned at 9 a.m. Friday at the Hall of Justice in San Francisco.

Irwin, who lives in Honolulu, Hawaii, arrived in Palo Alto on Sunday for a week-long contracting stint at a high-tech firm, Palo Alto police Agent Dan Ryan said.

Irwin had been seen in downtown Palo Alto about 3 p.m. Tuesday in a white four-door sedan.

The friend whom Irwin was to meet for dinner said Irwin is an avid surfer and likes to go to beaches in San Francisco when he visits the Bay Area on business trips, Ryan said.

Wonder if he went surfing out in that storm?

It will be very helpful if a picture was posted. This is concerning- and I'm sure, someone's loved one.

I expect the rental car will be found before the guy, so we should look out for that. The better that description is circulated the more likely it will be found as the last car in the lot or at some parking meter with a couple of parking tickets.

According to the KTVU website, he has been in jail in San Francisco.

I guess three of the four postings above show that a lot of people don't read an article or statement before posting.

That might explain a lot of the other strange or misalligned postings elsewhere on this board...

It actually shows how a new headline and story attached to the old posts can confuse new readers!

The most amazing part of this story is that someone actually got busted in SF for selling drugs!

Yes, he is someone's loved one...all of us who love him had no idea about the drug thing...we are all reeling after first thinking that he was laying somewhere dead for two days and then only to find out that he is involved in something so foreign to all the values we teach and have been taught. We hurt and we cry for him and his family and we pray that God's loving hand will touch Mike and bring him back to us.

What was the stupid high tech firm that hired a drug dealer? Guess

"stints" at high tech firms just don't pay what they use to pay.
