|
Palo Alto police will be out in force this Labor Day weekend as part of the nationwide Avoid anti-DUI campaign, Palo Alto police Sgt. Dan Ryan said.
Ryan said additional Palo Alto officers will be on patrol Friday and Saturday night and will be on the lookout for drunk drivers.

Posted by Michael Moore, a resident of the Midtown neighborhood, on Sep 3, 2009 at 4:09 pm We should emulate Cupertino; lose our police department and contract with the county sheriffs dept. The PAPD is amoung the very worst PDs in the country. Just look at the stats; Cupertino always has a much lower crime rate, especially in Class II crimes, even though the two cities are almost identical in location, population, size and educational levels.
This distroys the myth that Palo Alto is amoung the "smartest cities."

Posted by Cindy, a resident of the Barron Park neighborhood, on Sep 4, 2009 at 7:28 pm Michael Moore, that is a good idea. We should bring in the Santa Clara Sheriff's. They are the lowest paid and easiest department in the county to work for along the same lines with Morgan Hill and Gilroy Police folks. I don't think so. Palo Alto Police folks are awesome and do a great job. They are educated and highly trained cops. You should attend a meeting with the Chief and ask what kind of caliber his officers have. They recently caught the crooks from EPA who burglarized a home. Santa Clara Sheriff should stick to patrolling rural roads and avoid running over innocent bicyclist. You should wonder why they patrol rural town and rural roads and also why they have no control over the San Jose Jails like other Sheriff's departmens.
