Palo Alto Story Project: Geri McGilvray
|
Video
 | The Palo Alto Story Project -- a new initiative aimed at gathering community members' stories, reminiscences and reflections about the city -- launched last weekend at the Palo Alto Festival of the Arts.
More than 50 short stories from local residents (plus two dogs) were videotaped.
In this installment, Midtown resident Geri McGilvray explains how the mural of Venice on her garage door came into being.
The initiative is a project of the Palo Alto Weekly and Palo Alto Online.
More Story Project videos will be posted at regular intervals on Palo Alto Online.
To contribute your own Palo Alto story at a future taping session, contact Karla Kane, editorial assistant, at 650-326-8210 or kkane@paweekly.com.

Posted by Ray, a resident of the Old Palo Alto neighborhood, on Aug 28, 2009 at 11:31 am Geri I could listen to you for hours. Your painting of Venice after 9/11 shows a feel for the human spirit, because that's exactly what we all needed...something to remind us there was still beauty in the world. Your art work is so beautiful, and so is your soul.
HEY!!! I actually saw a guy in the Olympics from my very small town of Bucyrus, Ohio. I didn't recognize him, but when he said he was from Bucyrus, I was stunned!! The Internet has made the world so much smaller.
