 | Redshirt freshman Andrew Luck completed six of 10 passes, including a 13-yard touchdown to sophomore Chris Owusu, as the Stanford football team completed its first scrimmage of fall camp at Stanford Stadium on Wednesday.
Senior quarterback Tavita Pritchard was six of 11 passing for 25 yards as the Cardinal finished a 36-play effort in 35 minutes.
Luck moved past Pritchard on the depth chart in the spring, though Stanford coach Jim Harbaugh said the decision, as always, would be based on who was practicing better.
"It's competitive," Luck said. "We're both athletes. We know competition."
Pritchard and Luck are both mobile quarterbacks.
"Coach stresses that every quarterback reads the coverage and if you have to run, get the first down," Luck said. "I enjoy running a little bit."
Jeremy Stewart ran for 49 yards on seven carries, including a 19-yard run, and freshman running back Tyler Gaffney ran for 21 yards on three carries, including a 17-yard gain.
The Cardinal opens the season on the road Sept. 5 in Pullman against Washington State at 3 p.m.
