The gym, pool and dining room at Palo Alto's Classic Residence by Hyatt were back to business as usual Monday morning after a gastroenteritis outbreak shut down the facilities for nine days, staff said Monday.
The high-end retirement community along Sand Hill Road closed several residential wings and all of its congregant areas to contain the bug that caused stomach illness.
Although never under official quarantine, Executive Director Steve Brudnick said he followed Hyatt procedures as well as guidelines from the Santa Clara County Department of Public Health in closing the facilities. Lectures and exercises classes also were canceled.
Residents could order their meals from the dining room and have them delivered to their apartments or prepare food in their own kitchens.
