| From raising 21 foster children to chairing the Stanford University Board of Trustees, this year's seven honorees in the Avenidas "Lifetimes of Achievement" award have done it all.
The seven are Ray Bacchetti of Palo Alto, Jill and John Freidenrich of Atherton, Norma Hesterman of Los Altos Hills, Sharon Hofstedt of Menlo Park, Tom Jordan of Palo Alto and Donald Seiler of Atherton.
The public is invited to meet these high achievers at a garden party Sunday, May 17, from 3 to 5 p.m. The party, co-sponsored by the Palo Alto Weekly, is a major fundraiser for Avenidas, which offers services to local seniors and their families. The award recognizes outstanding contributions made by people over 65.
Tickets can be purchased for $75 by contacting Avenidas at 650-289-5445 or online at www.avenidas.org.

Posted by Mary McC, a resident of Menlo Park, on May 28, 2009 at 3:57 pm As a neighbor of Sharon's, I can add that the presence of the Hofstedt family has made our neighborhood feel very much like a close and caring community. What a blessing she is and what a lovely and loving family she has.
