Stanford men's hoops gets another recruit
Alabama prep 6-2 point guard Gabe Harris an all-around player

Bookmark and Share
The Stanford men's basketball program added another piece to its future under coach Johnny Dawkins when Altamont School's Gabriel Harris committed to the Cardinal on Monday, according to scout.com.

Harris, a 6-foot-2 point guard, had an outstanding all-around senior season, averaging 18.9 points, 8 rebounds, including at least five double-doubles, 4.4 assists and 3.9 steals to lead the Knights to a 17-8 record.

He was named Birmingham News Hoover/South Player of the Year in Alabama.

"It was a learning year for me, Harris told the
News. "I learned more about basketball and I was more prepared to play. I studied a lot more film. I don't think I'd nearly be as developed as a player if I hadn't gone to Altamont. Everything kind of came together for me and I think the numbers back up my game."

Stanford loses four seniors (Lawrence Hill, Anthony Goods, Mitch Johnson and Kenny Brown) and will be without Will Paul next season.

Harris joins 6-8 Mater Dei senior Andy Brown, who suffered a torn ACL during his senior season, as Stanford commits.
