A tradition since 1958, Treasure Market, the biennial fine arts and antiques sale, kicks of with a champagne preview Thursday, March 26, at the Arrillaga Center for Sports and Recreation on the Stanford campus.

Treasure Market, which runs through Sunday, benefits the acquisitions fund of the Cantor Arts Center at Stanford. Local residents, alumni, art and antique dealers, and collectors have donated items for sale, including paintings, sculpture, photographs, antiques, collectibles, and heirloom furniture.

The sale also features Oriental rugs and carpets, jewelry, books, fine china, silver, linens, crystal, furs and jewelry.

The March 26 champagne preview is a view-only (no sales) event from 6:30 to 9 p.m. There will be a panel of experts to give guidance on collecting trends and a silent auction. Alan Fausel, who appears on "Antiques Roadshow," will serve on the panel. Floral designer Ron Morgan will demonstrate flower arrangements.

Tickets for the preview party are $150 for Cantor Arts Center members and $200 for others. Tickets cover admission to the Friday opening night party and Saturday sale.

Sale of all objects begins at the opening night party, held from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Friday, March 27. Tickets are $75 for Cantor Center members and $100 for others, and include admission to the Saturday sale. Saturday admission from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. is $5. Admission is free Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
For tickets, call 723-2997. The Arrillaga Center is located at the Stanford campus, Galvez Street at Campus Drive East.
