SLAC at 50: still very much a going concern
SLAC is helping to build a digital camera for a telescope, shown in a rendering during an Aug. 24 presentation. The telescope will photograph the Southern sky twice a week for 10 years from a Chilean mountaintop; the digital catalog will allow comparisons of the same pieces of sky from different nights and find differences in minutes.
