A shooting in the 2200 block of Ralmar Avenue in East Palo Alto Thursday afternoon left one person injured and the shooter still at large.
Rami Khoury, East Palo Alto Police acting watch commander, said that the city’s Shotspotter gun-shot detection system picked up 15 to 16 shots around 1:09 p.m. on Thursday.
He said witnesses saw a car leaving the scene. Police were able to stop and detain three people but are not sure yet whether they are connected to the shooting, Khoury said.
The 20-year-old Hispanic male victim was found on Ralmar Avenue at Bay road and was transferred to Stanford Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, police said.
Police said they are not sure whether this incident is linked to others.

I am sadden to hear that crime and violence continue to cast a shadow on a community I called home for many years. I moved away several months ago because there were too many temptations present that literally almost destroyed my spirit. As a result of moving away I have managed to get my life back, but I do not blame East Palo Alto for how I faltered during the last years I resided there.
I know there are hard working individuals in the community, working and raising families in the community. I still have many friends living there that I graduated High School with back in 1980, as well as, ones I met while being employed at IKEA.
I send prayers and positive vibes to the community that those individuals causing all the havoc are brought to justice; for the sake of the hardworking people who call East Palo Alto home.
east palo alto is never going to change. its switches off and on. first it was the African Americas killing each other then the Hispanics. then the tongans. then the blacks again, it just alternates. and now its the Hispanics turn if anyone has noticed. pretty soon when the high school kids get a bit older they all are going to take the spots of those now. only the smart ones will stay in school but to be honest its just the environment that easily distracts people. its so easy to get caught into drama which later escalades into violent crimes. trust me I seen it all happen and everyone knows how it happens when it happens and who did what and started what ever. the only thing I just don’t get is why is the community so scared to talk to the police. yea theres that no snitch crap but seriously? would u rather snitch and save lives and not snitch and possibly end up as a victim. Ive seen so many people being at the wrong place and wrong time and end up being a victim. one more thing is that when that happens then it brings random other people into the situation. ahhhh what ever. eat palo alto is getting cleaned up. but honestly itll never stop until facebook buys up the whole city. when that happens everyone is just going to move into a lower income city like stoctkon or sacromento and bring that same violent mentality with them. Violence will never stop. it just relocates….. I live in east palo alto and ive seen it all. the city is just 2.5 square miles too small crowded with people who are trying to be better than one another or jealous for what ever reason. just let the tech companies buy the whole city and slap buildings every where and move everyone out to Stockton. that’s where everyone is going anyway.
