Sunnyvale resident Nathan Talarico, 19, was arrested in Mobile, Ala. on Friday after being tracked, with the assistance of the FBI, first to Miami and then to Alabama.

“They got information that he was on a Greyhound bus and knew where it was going so we contacted Alabama and said ‘hey can you pick him up,'” according to Mountain View Police Department spokeswoman Liz Wylie.

Talarico is expected to arrive in Santa Clara County either tonight or early Wednesday. He will likely be arraigned for Johnson’s murder next week in Santa Clara County Superior Court, Wylie said.

Johnson, 20, was shot once in the torso in the 700 block of Ehrhorn Street at approximately 7 p.m. on Feb. 7. He subsequently drove a white sport-utility vehicle across all lanes of El Camino Real before crashing into two other vehicles. He was later pronounced dead at a local hospital, according to the Mountain View Police Department.

Investigators believe Johnson and three associates drove to Ehrhorn Avenue in two cars to buy drugs where they were met by multiple suspects. In addition to the shooting of Johnson, the suspects chased the second vehicle containing two of Johnson’s associates onto state Highway 85 and then shot at the associates’ car, wounding one of them in the leg.

The investigation is ongoing and police are not identifying any of the other suspects of the other shooting victim in the case nor are they providing any further details about the shooting, Wylie said.
