Stanford grad still playing a high level of beach volleyball

The United States beach volleyball team of Stanford grad Kerri Walsh Jennings and April Ross advanced to the second round of single elimination at the FIVB Fuzhou Open.

Walsh Jennings and Ross are the lone U.S. team still playing in Fuzhou.

On Friday, Walsh Jennings and Ross, seeded No. 4 in the main draw, went 3-0 in pool play by defeating Argentina's No. 20 Georgina Klug and Ana Gallay, 22-20, 21-18 in 39 minutes. They advanced directly to the second round where they will play Brazil's No. 6 Agatha Bednarczuk and Barbara Seixas De Freitas on Saturday.

The other two U.S. women's teams in the main draw both lost in the first round of single elimination on Friday.
