Menlo batterymates named Cal Pac pitcher, catcher of the week

Menlo College pitcher Kelly Hager and catcher Melissa Reynosa were both honored as California Pacific Conference softball players of the week it was announced Tuesday. They each played key roles in the Lady Oaks' two wins last week.

Hager tossed a complete game shutout in game two of last weekend's doubleheader to complete the sweep of Embry-Riddle and move Menlo to 2-0 in Cal Pac play.

The sophomore allowed just four hits, striking out two and lowered her ERA to 2.49.

Reynosa, who caught both ends of the doubleheader, had a pair of doubles, a home run and drove in four runs. She also scored a trio of runs and stole a base, improving her batting average to .368 in the process.

Menlo concludes its 2014 home schedule with a three-game conference set with William Jessup this weekend.

Game one is set for Friday at 3 p.m. with a doubleheader to conclude the series set for Saturday at noon.
