Paly's Chryst is named to Under Armour All-America Game

Palo Alto senior quarterback Keller Chryst knows where he'll be on January 2 -- playing in the 2014 Under Amour All-America High School Football Game.

Chryst has been selected to join the nation's best seniors for the seventh annual contest, slated for a 1 p.m. (PT) start at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Fla. The game will be televised on ESPN.

"I chose the Under Armour All-America Game because it's newer that the U.S. Army one," Chryst said. "I saw that there are more SEC guys, and also I thought it was a little more talent and I liked the coaches too. ESPN's recruiting just shows that they have the ability to pick talent out early. It's just humbling and I'm honored."

The American Family Insurance Selection Tour for the 2014 Under Armour All-America High School Football Game will visit Palo Alto High on Thursday afternoon to formally present Chryst with an honorary game jersey commemorating his selection to the all-star game.

A three-month Selection Tour, sponsored by American Family Insurance, will visit the 90 Under Armour All-Americans to present official jerseys in front of their family and friends.

As part of American Family Insurance's involvement with the 2014 Under Armour All-America Game, the events will raise awareness around teen driving safety and recognize the student athletes, as well as the coaches, families and communities who have helped make these players' dreams a reality.

Chryst is regarded as one of the top prep quarterbacks in the nation and has been ranked as the No. 1 pocket passer. In his most recent outing, he completed 10 of 11 passes for 274 yards and four touchdowns in a 41-14 victory over host Fremont to open the SCVAL De Anza Division season.
