A display of more than 8,000 glass pumpkins drew up to 5,000 visitors on Saturday and Sunday at the Palo Alto Art Center. The Great Glass Pumpkin Patch is a yearly fundraiser for the Bay Area Glass Institute in San Jose, Palo Alto Art Center and Palo Alto Art Center Foundation. The annual event grosses more than $350,000. The three organizations split 40 percent after event expenses, with the remainder going to 24 glass artisans. About 200 of Palo Alto's art patrons also attended a special sale and event on Friday evening.
