Danish digital publisher Issuu announced today, Sept. 16, that it would open offices in downtown Palo Alto to focus on growth in Silicon Valley.
Issuu's new offices are on the second floor of 261 Hamilton Ave., across the street from City Hall, according to the company's website.
The company also named a new CEO, Joe Hyrkin, and added Bradley Horowitz, Google's product vice-president, to its board.
"The company has experienced a tremendous amount of traction just in the past few months, growing from 11.5 to over 14 million publications since June," Hyrkin said in a statement. "I'm excited to join Issuu at this pivotal time and with our new presence in Silicon Valley, we can expand our partnerships with leading brands and publishers."
The announcement quoted a report by PriceWaterhouseCoopers that predicted that consumer spending on digital magazines will exceed $80.2 billion by 2016.
The company, which stated it has 65 million unique visitors and more than 14 million publications, allows users to upload and view publications to be read on digital devices without subscription fees. The Palo Alto Weekly uses Issuu to publish its weekly print edition in digital form.
