Photography by Jon McCormack, whose travel images include pictures taken in rural Montana, Kenya, India and Yosemite, is now on display in the lobby of the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts at 500 Castro St. The free exhibit is open to the public from noon to 1 on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and an hour before each public performance in the center. Art: 'Food For Thought'
Imitation food by ceramic artist Susan Wolf and humorous nursery-rhyme-inspired works of mixed-media art by Ginger Slonaker are among the pieces by 21 artists in a new Main Gallery exhibit called "Food For Thought." Community: 50th Anniversary MLK Jr. "I Have a Dream" speech
The public is invited to a celebration of the 50th Anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I Have a Dream" speech in King Plaza in downtown Palo Alto tonight, Aug. 26, from 5 to 9 p.m. Figures such as civil rights leader Dolores Huerta, Clayborne Carson, executive director of Stanford University's Martin Luther King, Jr. Research and Education Institute; jazz vocalist Kim Nalley, and an actor portraying King will be present at the event, which is a collaboration between the city of Palo Alto and the King Institute.
