Strollers along California Avenue found something new to look at Thursday morning -- graffiti on buildings in the 400 block.
A scrawled picture of a black bird, the letters "rowlex" and "nfb" -- about 1 to 2 feet tall -- were reported to Palo Alto police about 9 a.m., according to Agent Marco Estrada.
The majority of the tagging was on the front of the Accent Arts building, with some on the side, near the roof.
"As far as we know it's not gang-related," Estrada said, noting that Nortenos use red and Surtenos blue while the bird is black. "It's not a gang I'm familiar with, not for sure."
Estimate for painting over the graffiti is about $200, he said.
