The Menlo Park Legends will be represented by four players on the Far West League All-Star team that will face the Horizon Air Summer Series team on Tuesday at Appeal-Democrat Park in Marysville. Game time is 7 p.m.
Representing the Legends will be first baseman Danny Miller, catcher Ian Josh, and pitchers Andrew Herrera and DJ Zapata.
Miller has been the big bat in the Legends' lineup throughout the summer, spending nearly every game as the No. 3 or 4 hitter. He played in all 41 games while batting .351 with 52 hits, nine homers and 40 RBI.
Josh has been the starting catcher for the Legends throughout the summer, and has done a solid job handling the pitching staff. He batted .255 in 35 games with 27 hits, two homers and 18 RBI.
Herrera has been starting for the Legends since the very first weekend. He made nine starts and compiled a 4-3 record, a 2.74 ERA with 36 strikeouts and 15 walks.
Zapata joined the Legends in time for the Humboldt series, and has been a key contributor ever since. He made five starts, finished 1-3 with a 3.89 ERA, 39 strikeouts and 14 walks.
The Legends finished the regular season with a 22-21 overall record, including a 13-14 mark in the Far West League following Sunday's 12-3 victory over Neptune Beach Pearl in Alameda.
That victory earned Menlo Park a berth in the Far West League playoffs. The Legends tied with the Pearl in the league standings, but advanced to this weekend's playoffs via tiebreaker rules.
The Legends, the No. 4 seed, face the top-seeded Humboldt Crabs in Arcata on Friday at 7 p.m. The other playoff game pits No. 2 Top Speed Baseball against No. 3 California Warriors.
In the crucial victory Sunday, Dane Vande Guchte had four hits for the Legends while Geo Saba drove in four runs with a grand slam and Logan Trowbridge finished with three RBI.
