A Palo Alto-based independent school for children with dyslexia will hold an information night for prospective families Wednesday, May 29.
The three-year-old Athena Academy uses a curriculum based on the Davis Method, which steers away from traditional phonics-based instruction in favor of helping dyslexic students rely on what the school believes is their strength: a natural capacity to think in pictures.
The school, which enrolled nine students in grades two through five in 2012-13, aims to expand and offer K-8 instruction next year.
The information session begins at 7 p.m. at the school, 525 San Antonio Ave., Palo Alto.
