A pedestrian who was struck and killed by a train in Palo Alto on Friday has been identified as Jonathan Lazarus, 28, the Santa Clara County Coroner's office said on Tuesday.
Lazarus, of Sunnyvale, died after being hit by a southbound commuter train at East Meadow Drive at about 7:30 p.m., Caltrain spokeswoman Christine Dunn said.
Lazarus was a professional drummer and music teacher, according to friends.
About 200 passengers were on board train 284, and none were injured, Dunn said.
The accident caused considerable train delays for several hours.
Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority and SamTrans buses were called to transport passengers from the San Antonio, California Avenue and Palo Alto stations.
At about 9:20 p.m., Caltrain opened a single track, and some trains began rolling again.
