About 40 employees of SurveyMonkey, a Palo Alto tech firm that offers online surveys, grew mustaches in November, only to have them shaved off en masse Friday, Nov. 30.
The effort was part of Movember, an annual campaign to raise awareness of prostate and testicular cancer. Men pledge to grow mustaches in exchange for donations for cancer research.
The SurveyMonkey employees raised about $2,000 for the cause, and the company contributed a matching $2,000, according to the firm.
Barbers from Sam's Barbershop in downtown Palo Alto shaved off some of the men's lip sweaters in the event the company called "The Great Shave."
