A Palo Alto man's frustration over parking in front of his home escalated into a threat to return to his neighbor's home with a gun, police said Monday, June 25.
Norman Karl Larsen, 71, was arrested by Palo Alto police for making terrorist threats after the Friday, June 22, incident, which occurred around 8:13 a.m.
Larsen was upset that his neighbor's son kept parking his car in front of Larsen's home in the 3700 block of La Selva Drive, which is near Barron Avenue. Larsen confronted the neighbor, but he was rebuffed. The man told Larsen he was leaving for work and it wasn't a good time, Sgt. Brian Philip said.
Larsen became enraged and insisted on continuing the discussion, but the neighbor closed his door. The neighbor's wife opened the door to speak to Larsen, who threatened to return later with a gun if the matter wasn't settled immediately. The neighbor called police, Philip said.
Larsen gave police his 22-caliber rifle for safekeeping until cooler heads could prevail, Philips said. Police then arrested him for making criminal threats, which is a felony.
On Tuesday Larsen said he declined to comment.
