Car crash kills one along Page Mill Road

Page Mill closed between Deer Creek and Coyote Hill roads

A two-vehicle collision on eastbound Page Mill Road has left one person dead and four injured. The accident at Old Page Mill Road and Page Mill occurred shortly before 1 p.m. today, according to officials.

Page Mill Road has been closed to traffic between Deer Creek Road and Coyote Hill Road until further notice, according to Marc Johnston, CHP spokesman.

One vehicle, a four-door black BMW 840i with four passengers, flipped at least once, according to April Wagner, Palo Alto police agent. The other vehicle, a two-door silver Acura with one passenger, was badly damaged.

It appears the BMW crossed the median and crashed into the Acura, Wagner said. Officials do not know the speeds of either car or why the BMW driver crossed the median. It is not known which vehicle had the fatality.

Four people were transported to Stanford Medical Center. Their injuries were "undetermined, but critical," said Ron Bonfiglio, Palo Alto fire department battalion chief.

The collision occurred on a state road within California Highway Patrol's jurisdiction.

Johnston of the CHP advised drivers to use Arastradero Road.

More details will be posted as they become available.
